D so sorry bout your luck! Hoped better for you,but it sure sounded like it to me. Also, if you read all the head threads ( there are aonly about a gazilion of them now lol), you will see that there have been a couple other 07 head replacements already. Glad to hear your dealer is taking care of you. Just remember...squeaky wheel gets the grease (usually LOL). I have always maintained that I LOVE my H3 as well in spite of all the hassle I have been thru - she is my BABY! [sm=smiley27.gif]

ahh, always leave it to Papa Dennis to put things in perspective (you're like a miniature buddah covered in hair). i saw a thread on there titled 'difficulty engaging 4wd' and thanked the heavens. my 3 may not run, but at least the 4wd works all the time...wait a sec...[sm=insomnia.gif]. again, i appreciate the tips, advice, and support. yall helped calm down 'over reaction man' (me) . anyways, i'll keep you posted on the final diagnosis and solution. i hope for every 07er's sake (especially my folks) that this is just another isolated incident. i don't mind taken a grenade for the betterment of the group [sm=usa.gif].

thanks again!

D, really sorry to hear it's a head issue. It's a big pain and it's really a bummer that the redesigned head/gasket in the 07 didn't fix the issue.

We know you got it @ Sewell, those are great guys over there. I talked to all the Hummer dealers in the metroplex and they were all really nice folks. I don't think it matters where you got it but I am curious about a few things.

1) When did you buy your H3? Do you know the Born on date?

2) Is it Std. or Adv. series?

3) Any aftermarket goodies installed?

4) Have you/did you over-rev the motor any? Pull a trailer, etc?

5) Oil changes, ontime and are you running stock oil or synthetic?

I'm just trying to understand if these things just let go on their own or is there something enabling these problems with the head and compression.

Frankly I was a little worried when we went to Moab last month, first time out in a remote area and we were alone, the Hummer had about 7K starting the trip and finished up a smidge over 10K. So far the motor is pulling strong and no problems other than a dead cell in my battery at 2900 miles.

Again, really sorry to hear. I'd hit the dealer up for the airline trip back home, if they won't budge on that, maybe they can give your some GM accessories to help ease your pain.

Why not contact GM Hummer Customer Service and see if they can help you with the airline expense. After all it is their fault you're in this predicament!

thanks for the sympathy, HD, and advice, darth. i've got few more updates to prove that Sewell is legit, but 1stthe responses toquestions:

1) purchased new: 2/28/07. born: 1/07
2) adventure
3)no after-market performance mods, only body/appearance mods
4) the only "over-reving" i've done was while off-roading partially stuck in mud and/or sand. nothing above 4K-5K rpms (total guess).
5) original manufacturers oil (not sure the quality...i know there's a thread/arguement aboutthis)as dealer recommended several times to change every 5K miles (even for the first one). just barely overturned 5K while in el paso.

Update: i flew back to dallas this morning while my baby 3 is still in EP. while picking up the loaner at sewell-plano, the service rep (Jim Huddleston)apologized for not having anymore h3 loaners. i laughed and said 'that's probably a good thing considering my recent history. we need a break from each other.' then, w/out me even asking about it, he told me that once i get my ride back to give him copies of my airline receipts and they'll reimburse me . really made me feel better about the situation. he continued to explain that he's very surprised at the issue i'm having b/c the h3's really are reliable vehicles, especially the 07 head/valves.

UPDATED-UPDATE: just got off the phone w/ Bravo. the service rep told me he escalated my issue tohis service manager b/ctheyencountered the oddest thing. turns out there was a bolt lodged in the valve of cylinder #3 that was causing the issue (loss of compression). he said it must've occurred at some point during the manufacturing process. he sounded pretty dumb-founded about the situation, and i asked him to repeat himself several times to make sure i heard him correctly. he said nothing was damaged, but they're going go ahead andinspect the rest of the valves, cylinders, etc as well asreplace the gaskets. im pretty dumb when it comes to the intricacies of an engine, so i dont know if this makes sense that this finally arisesafter 5k miles. kinda seems like this would be an issue from day 1. any thoughts? do i need to worry about any long term effects? should i start thinking about lemon laws and replacements? this 27th b-day of mine (7/2)is turning out to be quite a doozy []...

good news: 07er's can stop holding their collectivebreaths about the head/valve designs.
bad news: i think its pretty self-evident regarding the 'manufacturing process'

lil d

ps - sorry for the ultra-long post...and this 'ps' didnt make it any shorter...ha!

Now where the hell did a bolt come from that got stuck in an open valve. I suspect it was the Intake valve...That definately is an issue with a rotten engine assembler...Not GM..I know, I know..they are onlyas good as the subs they use too and ultimately responsible...[:@]

well, i read my tags on under the hood and that's what happens when you send engine assembly across the border . with fear of sounding like a biggot, i won't specify which border (damn canadians...jk!). then again, if it wasn't done there, we all probably would've paid an extra $10k for our h3s.

he didn't say where the bolt came from, but doesn't this sound weird to be the problem all of the sudden? or should i just have the impression that it wiggled loose and ended up there?

i'm just worried that my engine is going to be F-ed from here on out. although, he stated otherwise...
