Happy Friggin' New Year. Yesterday our H3 (2007 Tactical Manual 5 Speed, 73,000K) was being operated by my fiance on the way to work. She was making a slow left turn in third gear and began accelerating to enter an interstate. As she accelerated up the ramp the engine revs increased and the truck lost all acceleration. She pulled over and discovered that no gear would engage in any trans setting. When she let the clutch out the engine would increase RPM but the trans would not engage. She claims there were no unusual sounds and no smells prior to the failure. No idiot lights came on and the engine temp was fine.

When I got there, the truck had cooled and when I engaged first gear it moved for a short distance (1/4 mile) before revving and losing the trans.

I did not observe a fluid leak, the coolant appears fine and I heard no unusual noises either.

Any ideas or experiences? Naturally the truck is 4 months out of the powertrain warranty.

Call 1-800-HUMMER and start a case if you want to (that is an actual # to call for warranty claims).

Sounds like the clutch went bye-Bye on you, which is not covered under the PT warranty anyway. 73K on a stock clutch is pretty darn good.

 

I agree with Tainter sounds like your clutch is shot.....
