Badlands Park - Attica, IN - APRIL 29TH, Sunday
i actually have my antenna mounted on my spare tire carrier, and only about 1/3 of it sticks above the roof. i keep meaning to replace it with one on the side of the rack, but since it works so well where it is, i don't wanna mess with it. plus, i scrape tree branches so much on the rack, an antenna up there would end up getting ripped off or bent/broken.
Yeah, I guess it would be subjected to whatever trees you come in contact with, I didn't think of that bit ... Mounting it on the spare tire carrier is actually a good idea .. too bad I don't have one thoughLOL!
I think what I'm going to do for now, assuming I can get an antenna by Sunday; is take it out through the"trunk" doorweather stripping or through the access hole at the top of it. It requires only minor interior work (read mild to moderate level of cussin' lol) plus it looks nice and clean .. I'm relying on the cable being long enough to take it straight down just infront of the rear door and down and under the drivers seat to ultimately pop it up in the console area ...
I'm looking from an aspect of needing to get tow/pull help if you guys ain't enough to get me out of apinch .. and for 30 bucks, I'm willing to invest just to have that slightly warm and fuzzy feeling!
Mike has a REAL CB and antenna on his H3, plus he has a kick-*** winch, so I doubt you will have to worry. Plus he has some monster MTs on his ride. I think you'll be ok!
i think HG is right here Z, if you have a portable, you shouldn't need an antenna, even if you're at the opposite end of a 40' tow strap. if your cb isn't a portable though, you'll need an antenna anyway.
