2010 model is the last year for H3's built by GM...
No, did not misunderstand at all. In fact the deal with the Chinese has hit a few bumps and is nowhere near done.
The original announcement was that they, GM, would build this into 2012 when the Chinese would then take over production. Chairman Obama is cutting this up.
2010 is the last year GM will build Hummers unless a deal happens and we have all seen what has happened with Saturn, Saab, etc.
I have spoken with a ton of people from GM to the ad agency that had handled the account.
Disgusted by this administration owning GM and with the idiot now running GM who fluffed up AT&T. Telecom and autos share nothing in the way of management.
F'ing unions destroyed these once great companies... sorry about the rant, expecting to get behind the wheel of another H3 by end of January 2010, I hope...

I think you misunderstood the person on the phone or they have their facts mixed up. GM sold hummer brand to Chinese company and the deal has been finalized. The h3 as it stands now will still be manufactured in the same plant as before up to 2011 and gm is covering all warranties. They will be making h3's up to atleast 2012. The 2011 model should be getting face lift now that the chinese company will have settled in and ready to give a new look to the brand. My salesman who also is a h3 owner informed me back in November that a diesel engine would be in the mix aswell and the company that bought them they are into heavy mobile machinery so they should be doing the hummer name justice. Financially though no matter who bought the brand they are not gonna dump all the trucks .They know the h3 is very sucessful and in Russia the h2 is extremely good selling. Buys a car brand and dumping what you just bought is bad business, the new trucks after the 2011 mark still being manufacted by American hands is a question that will have to wait to be answered.
Dealers are the last to know. And if they know anything they say nothing.
Contacted GM directly. Hummer directly. And the Ad Agency that handled the account.
The Chinese deal is not done. Chairman Obama does not adhere to anything. GM will not be building past the 2010 model.
Can this change, yes, but when and because of what?

Did you call HUMMER or a dealership?
Some clarification:
2010 H3 and H3T models have been in production since October, with many hitting dealerships already.
The 2010 models out there are technically GM models, but once the sale is complete, they will no longer be GM vehicles.
Should the deal go through, it won't be the last year H3s are made.
HUMMER's CEO said this last week: "Under the terms of the definitive agreement with GM, all H3 and H3T models will be built at the Shreveport Assembly facility until 2011, with an optional one-year extension to 2012. We are currently evaluating production options and locations in the US for long-term production."

All production on Hummers ceased and did not start up again until 11/10/09.
There are scattered 2010's out there that were built before Chairman Obama stopped production over the summer.

No one is saying that the HUMMER deal is done - but the terms of the agreement are what we need to look at to see what the brand will look like after the sale is finalized - which includes GM building H3s and H3Ts until 2011 with an option to go to 2012.
I'm wary of your sources, since you seem to think that 2010 production started before the summer and was stopped, when in fact, 2010 production started in late October and full production in early November...
Also, an "Ad Agency that handled the account" is hardly a reputable source when it comes to production.
Do you have specific names from any of the "ton of people from GM"? Like, so and so in charge of North American distribution? I suspect not...but feel free to let us know otherwise.

I appreciate your cynicism, but the facts are the facts.
Feel free to dismiss, but I need to get another H3 and I have my in roads to info on the matter.
Have a happy new year.

I couldn't agree more, and right now I can back mine up with credible sources, and you cannot. I believe its possible that you received some bad information which you believe to be true.
You haven't provided a single bit of information, so not sure what you think you are saying.
Production at the Shreveport, La plant didn't restart until NOVEMBER 10, 2009. It takes upward of 10 weeks to get into the dealerships from there.
That plant has been working round the clock to get production going. And yes many parts were made before the shut down and there is some recycling from older years, like the 2010 has the same tow color bumper as the 2006, etc.
Obviously those areas closest have received some.
As for the deal with China's Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. Ltd., word was expected back to GM by 12/1/09. Here we are at 1/3/10 and still no word.
Furthermore, Hummer will need to find a new place to build their vehicles which will have to abide by new and stricter FEDERAL fuel economy rules.
If the deal with China does not happen, like Saturn's sale and Saab's sale, Hummer will go the way of Pontiac.
Chairman Obama is ensuring that Hummer will not be made by GM after this model year.
All I know is I need to get an H3 asap in Los Angeles and will outfit it with freaking automatic laser beams to keep idiots from hitting it.
Have a happy new year.
