Default 2010 model is the last year for H3's built by GM...

Just called Hummer. Trying to replace our H3 that was totaled.

They truly don't expect for dealers to have many until sometime in January 2010 and this will be the last model year that GM will be building.

Man, I could cry, how'd we get in this mess?
This H-3 has been my favorite vehicle of all time and now it may go away for ever. I was looking forward to a new H3T down the road.
Very upsetting news.

Did you call HUMMER or a dealership?

Some clarification:

2010 H3 and H3T models have been in production since October, with many hitting dealerships already.

The 2010 models out there are technically GM models, but once the sale is complete, they will no longer be GM vehicles.

Should the deal go through, it won't be the last year H3s are made.

HUMMER's CEO said this last week: "Under the terms of the definitive agreement with GM, all H3 and H3T models will be built at the Shreveport Assembly facility until 2011, with an optional one-year extension to 2012. We are currently evaluating production options and locations in the US for long-term production."

Having owned just about every real 4 wheel drive made including the FJ40 and International Scout I have to say the H3 with front and rear locking diffs is the best 4 wheel drive out there. Not just the guts but the looks also, especially when wearing 35" tires to fill up the big wheel wells.
I hope Hummer stays in business or I will be forced to one day buy a Rubicon which drives like the little red wagon I had when I was 6 when compared the the H3.

Personally i would be very surprised if 2010 is the last year of the H3.

Default money maker ?

i think gm is is passing up one of their best opportunities.

a test drive sells the h3, many people, like me,an old ford man could not resist after driving my friends once!! its the feel and looks that sell it.

many will never need or use all the 4wd equipment, like in the snow free south.

they could add a 2wd version front or rear and cut out the weight and cost of hardware and electronics. then make the 3.5 even more efficient and bump mileage into the twenties, THE 3.5/3.7 HAS PLENTY OF POWER FOR MOST PEOPLE!! i drove in the hills of Pa. and never needed a push!!

the outside appearance should not change

this 2wd could be much cheaper and attack the soccer mom market and others.

i think they are crazy to let this go.

think of the classic cars of the past, i dont think any one of them had the following the hummer has already. its already classic!!

i am definetly planning a NEW one next year.

I don't agree that having a watered down, less capable model geared towards soccer moms would be a smart place for HUMMER to go. HUMMER's message should be if you're looking for a soccer mom vehicle w/ 2WD - go get a Tahoe.

I would favor a small Diesel and more transmission gears plus even more off-road performance improvements instead of going backwards on capability too.

Maybe offer more energy efficient tires on base models for those that just buy for on road snow and ice capabilities.

I think you misunderstood the person on the phone or they have their facts mixed up. GM sold hummer brand to Chinese company and the deal has been finalized. The h3 as it stands now will still be manufactured in the same plant as before up to 2011 and gm is covering all warranties. They will be making h3's up to atleast 2012. The 2011 model should be getting face lift now that the chinese company will have settled in and ready to give a new look to the brand. My salesman who also is a h3 owner informed me back in November that a diesel engine would be in the mix aswell and the company that bought them they are into heavy mobile machinery so they should be doing the hummer name justice. Financially though no matter who bought the brand they are not gonna dump all the trucks .They know the h3 is very sucessful and in Russia the h2 is extremely good selling. Buys a car brand and dumping what you just bought is bad business, the new trucks after the 2011 mark still being manufacted by American hands is a question that will have to wait to be answered.

definitely a diesel is needed

I'd also like to see a convertible version of the H3 like the Wrangler Unlimited. Keep a roll bar and four doors and all. They could call it the Moab Edition!

Edit:
2011 Hummer H3 Moab

maybe? maybe?
