2003 H2- Whats with the brakes?
Guys.....I have a bone stock H2 (2003). It has 126,000 miles on it and it has never had a brake job. The pads are just about 1/2. I'm beginning to think that the Hummer fairies have been doing routine brake jobs without my knowing! The brake pedal is firm, no squeaks, pulsations or anything to suggest an issue. Is this normal or am I just lucky?

Hi i'm new to owning a H2 so can't be of much help but seeing as your question has had 40 viewers without a single reply i just thought i'd say hello and ask how you know the brakes have never been fixed ? have you owned it from new ?

Hi Diesel....
Funny thing, this morning I asked myself the same question, "40 views and not a one response?" So thanks for stopping and saying hello. To answer your question, I am the first and only owner of this H2. Maybe had I made that clear someone would have answered, instead of muttering, "Geez dude, who ever owned it before you had them done, whaddaya think? Duh!" So, nope, never been done on this heavy truck with 126000 miles.
I hope you enjoy your H2, I certainly have. Welcome aboard!

Hey that's good to know i'm astonished at the stopping power for such a big truck i was thinking jeez it must have massive disks and pads that will cost a fortune to replace , with only 30k on the clock i guess i don't need to worry for a while .

IMO, the breaks on these things are massive which only prolongs the life of the pads. I've had other vehicles with very undersized calipers/pads and you'd be replacing pads every 25-30k miles. I still had the factory tires on mine until roughly a month ago when I went aftermarket. Pads, those are still factory as well and have well over 50% left with 61k on the odo.
