Does anyone know what the Door Check does? The one in my drivers door seems to be making a grinding noise when opening and closing the door. If has to be replaced do you need to take off the door panel?

Before you pull anything off, check the detent hold open bar/pin and lubricate that appropriately.
It won't hurt to try and lubricate the top and lower hinges too.
Use the lubrication cans that have the plastic stem for the nozzle.
That can get into places where you want to spray.
On occasion, my doors seem to drag and need this procedure

This is just my opinion, before you try and do a major job.

Get yourself some good silicone lubricant and spray all moving contacts.

 

use whats left in the can for all the door seal rubber. do that in nov and the doors dont stick when its -15! i still use sil grease on the skylite

 

It didn't seem to help. I may have to take the door pannel off and see what's grinding.

 

hold open bar/pin ...if you unhook it, its very hard to reconnect.
try everything else, lube,?
