Default Winterizing 2008 H3

Does anyone have any recommendations for winterizing a 2008 H3 base model? I have been told to get a block heater, oil pan heater, winter tires, antifreeze wiper fluid, winter wipers, and cold weather antifreeze. For reference, I am going from Nevada to Alaska. Are there any of the above items that I can do myself, or should I go to a shop to have everything installed? I already have the winter tires, they are being installed in November.

Window washer fluid is anti-freeze almost everywhere except CA (do not know what NV says). Don't need a shop to buy it at the auto store and our in.

GM always recommends 50/50 mix of Dexcool and water, never been anywhere cold enough to mess with that. We can see -20F in MI, but depending on where in AK you are going, might have to boost the coolant to water ratio? If you do, there is no Radiator drain, you just loosen/remover the lower Radiator hose and let some out, top off with a small amount of straight coolant.

H3s had a block heater option, you could go GM or aftermarket. I would install it myself if I needed one, but some people can't change a light bulb so whatever you decide on how to get it installed is up to you. There are vids out there on that. Don't think you need an oil heater plus a block heater.

Wiper you can buy when you get there or on your way, the kids at chain auto supplies will install them for you free.

Thanks for the info, I am heading to Fairbanks so it can get to -20 degrees that you see in MI. I don’t really have a place to do my own work so I’m going to have a shop instal the block heater to avoid the coolant mess. Thanks for info on not overdoing it with an additional oil pan heater. I also don’t know what kind of washer fluid is currently in there. It was filled up at my last oil change here. I’ve actually had wiper fluid turn into an ice block before in a F150 I had when driving through Colorado and Nebraska during the winter. That sucked 😂

Some windshield washer fluids are advertised to only protect at up to +32F. Check labels before you buy!

It got close to -40F when I was in Fairbanks, but with the global warming thing maybe that is not a thing now??

I'm still waiting on Hummerz to post a video on how to change a light bulb!

There are you few things different in Fairbanks Alaska lol.
I'm in Wisconsin and it gets pretty snowy and damn cold here.
All your mentioned items are not currently installed on either My Jeep or Hummer.
Nope!
Just plain antifreeze. No other items, save for an inexpensive trickle charger from HF.
I do have winter wiper blades but have yet to install them. Just plain AC delco metal framed wipers.
Good quality tires are important. Lol no mudder's or silly gimmick stuff. Snow driving, ice take the right stuff. Nokian is what I've been running. Many other manufacturers provide good stuff to.
