Default Water-soaked coil pack

2006 H3 132,000 miles. I was pulling the original ignition coil packs to check out a misfire on #5. I pulled out the #5 pack and it was very wet. It didn’t look like the pink coolant in the tank. I shook the ignition pack fluid on a white piece of paper and it was clear, must be water. I checked the coil pack seal and it had several large cracks. The other coil packs only had 1, 2 or no cracks. I decided to clean out the hole where the coil pack was inserted with compressed air and I got soaked. The vehicle does only short trips and driving around my property. Glad it wasn’t something serious. This is not my line of work but I thought this was odd.

Short trips do not generate enough hear to burn off moisture or condensation.

Water can leak trough the holes that the Hood Louver clips go into and you get what you got.

Lol! U got a hand it to GM for putting holes in a perfectly good hood to put fake plastic crap on to make you think theirs louvers. And of course where the water can dribble right in.

Yup got slapped with it as well. First plug was half gone. Second would just spin but wouldn’t come out. What are my options? Motor toasted? Can I get a new or rebuilt? Sell as is to someone who has a motor they want to swap out or deal with this. What would an as is price point be? It’s an 07 with less than 120,000 miles maybe, I don’t remember for sure. Just pissed off when I found this out and parked it a couple months ago. Thinking it’s about time to do something with it. Suggestions

Remove the spark plugs, squirt a dab of oil in each cylinder, install ACDelco spark plugs and see what you have.

BTW there is no such thing as a spark plug that will not come out... use proper tools, grip it and remove. What water has to do with your plugs themselves having issues is beyond me. If the threads in the head are stripped, they make HeliCoils (and other knock off brands) in all sizes to take care of that. Dial back your panic button.

There are no new motors. Rebuilt motors are exceedingly difficult to find.

Good luck
