UPDATE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions?
I'm glad I ran across this forum, I have the same rattle too, had 8 miles on it when I drove off the lot too, along with a shaking mirror glass, misaligned steering wheel and bad vibration, reminds me of cars 30 years ago, where you took 'em back with 15 or 20 things wrong, unacceptable by todays standards. I was told all the mirrors did that, funny thing is, my road test vehicle didn't have a shaking mirror and neither did 8 H3's on the lot. It's been back twice & come home with the same problems still there. No road test nowadays ??? The sales staff was and is outstanding, I'm still reserving judgement on the service dept, but it's not looking good, which is why I usually do my own work. Had I road tested the 1 I bought, they would have lost a sale.
Just got mine back. #25900714 was used as a replacement. SA still stated that this is not the final fix but hope it works.[sm=violin.gif]
The problem seem to be fixed. It was about 90 degrees today with a 30 min. drive and no issues.
My reciept did not state that an alignment was performed, is this needed? Who got one with a shaft replatement?

The new lower steering shaft was replaced on my first H3 and an alignment wasn't necessary. It's been over a month and it'sdoing fine. I'm still waiting for my new H3 to be worked on.
I took mine in yesterday, but it was not the Shaft. They said the "stabelizer links" were loose and about to fall off. So they removed them to make sure they were fine and put 'em on and re-torqued them. NOISE IS GONE!!
Been a while since I checked in here... thought I might post a follow up on my service.
DISCLAIMER: I flipped thru the 19 pages of posts pretty quick, so if I missed something, my apologies.
I had the shaft replaced back in early August, to no avail. In fact, the issue is worse than before. Service dealer basically gave me the "one per customer" line until the new part comes out. Don at McGinnis confirmed that the factory part number has changed, and that a newly engineered part isn't available at this time. He did confirm that I'm still on the list, and verified my name. Don is a nice guy to deal with, btw.
So, for now, I continue to drive my klunky H3 either really slow in the mud or above 55mph on the freeway. Anywhere in-between and it feels like it is about to fall apart.
Good luck,
Manford

Don may be a nice guy, but that doesn't mean he knows what he's talking about 100% of the time. It seems to me that McGinnis has popped up on several occasions in regards to misinformation. Even earlier in this thread I believe, as I remember commenting on them before.
The new redesigned lower steering shaft has been available for the last month and a half or so. Fixes with the new shaft began in mid-late Aug I believe. Mine was performed exactly 4 weeks ago.

greenshirt77 is absolutely correct. By now the replacement drive shaft issue is an old story. It's been more than a month since my H3 was serviced for this particular problem, and it's now running just like when I first purchased it. You should have McGinnis folks make contact with the DeMontrond Hummer dealer in Houston. By now, and this late in the game no Hummer dealer should be playing the "I know more than you game." Be nice to them, but tuff and let them know that you need to get your rig fix yesterday.

The work performed on my 2007 - H3 was described as follow: Steering/Suspension -Tapping at pedal, Lower Intermidiate Shaft is noisy. Lower Intermidiate Shaft replaced. Part Number: 25776339. Description: Shaft 6.524. So far doing great, and I even received a customer satisfaction follow thru call. Call and ask for an appointment. They will understand the problem. Please, keep us posted ! GO GET THEM !
p.s. I love my H3 now, just as much as I as I did when I first drove it off the lot.
