Hey folks, just finished building the engine she runs great and better than ever and even sound better less gas consumption and no more losing oil after a long drive. took me about a month to get her done cus of work and such but she is good to go . 2007 hummer h3 127k miles roughly
i changed timing chain and sprockets
balancers, oil pump and water pump
took cylinder head for resurface and cleaned
pistons, rings, and pins
Rods cleaned and inspected
Crankshaft bearings
rods bearings
springs, valves, retainers and valve seals
rehoned the cylinder wall
new spark plugs , coils and fuel injectors
new o2 sensors and exhaust manifold
new gaskets obviously and bolts
fresh transmission fluid and filter
now she is running on ams oil breaking oil for 500 miles then gonna drain and change the filter and put mobile one fully synthetic
coolant flush and new coolant
new alternator since mine was going bad
new belt
That’s so far I can remember lol
now the next project is the transmission . I keep getting code p0717 speed sensor I already replaced it once but I don’t know why it keep coming . It drives normal and operate normally so I don’t know why I keep getting it. Tracing and electric problems is my weakness so anyone can help
me figure out what the problem may be since the speed sensor changed like a year or 2 ago. It’s fresh transmission fluid and filter about 3 weeks old
At the plug to the transmission, check for 12 volts on pin E Pink wire.
Ground on the pin V Light Blue.
Verify pin K Brown/White wire is not open or shorted back to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Blue connector pin 23.
If all the above is OK with everything plugged in, backprobe the Brown/White and check for square wave signal with the engine running.
If no signal is present, then replace the input speed sensor.
To replace the input speed sensor requires removal of the transmission and then removal of the front pump from the transmission assembly. GL

but since I am not good with electricity crap let me clearify plz
so the plug under the hummer just unplug it and put a red voltmeter to the E pink wire. And the black voltmeter to ground it on the B blue wire and I should read 12 volts . Now my question is do I do that while the engine is running or not? Also how do I know which one is E and B do you have a diagram?
as for the K brown white wire to check if not shortened to the pcm just basically trace where it goes and make sure it’s not cut or short?

I found the diagram and to check for waves signals , can I ground that with the light blue as well? Or do I have to ground it somewhere else ?

Do you have 12v at the E pink KOEO? If not check #34 fuse.

thank you hummerz I got paper clips that will do the trick too. I will check all that today and I will ground that brown white wire to the light blue since the light blue is ground and check for wave signals once I check everything else
As for checking to see if the brown and white wire not shortened all the way to pin 23. What’s the easiest way to check it and where is PIN number 23?

J1-Blue connector pcm, Brown/White, continuity test connector pin to connector pin with both connectors disconnected, start at 3:30:
thank you a lot that’s a lot of helpful information to check for any shortage plug one end to the pin 23 and the other end to pin K? My question is they are really far apart how can you get ur multimeter to plug on one end from the engine pay to the other end under where the harness is?
can I just use a regular long wire with a paper clip to k and attach the other end to the multimeter it will still transmit signals and such right ?

Not that far apart, just use a jumper wire on 1 end or get another> test lead to extend 1 end.
