Default Stiff Shifting in Cold

I’ve found it hard to shift when it’s cold outside. I can’t shift at all into 3 2 or 1 (not that I ever need it) but sometimes when it’s really cold out it’s very stiff and needs muscle.

the actual transmission feels fine and drives/ shifts gears normally

i toook off the gear selector **** and the trim and just sprayed some silicon lube on the gear step tracks. Feels better but have done this before and it dries out.

wondering what else it may be? Gear shift cable looks good and not worn at any ends. Covered in undercoating ar some points but just on the outsides.

feels more like it’s tough in that actual gear selection area in the cabin.a

are There any adjustments or anything to do before just ordering new shift cables? Anyone else done this or is this common on these?

Mine goes from P to Drive, might even use R once in a while.

Ya I figured 321 not going there just may be from never ever using that (and I don’t think I ever will). Just the stiffness in shifting from P to D (needs some muscle in cold) or from D to R and back is what’s worrying me

Binding is caused by the shift control, shift cable, or transmission. Disconnect cable at the shift control and move through all gears to check for binding. Disconnect cable at the transmission and manually move the lever(level ground make sure wheels are chocked)
If both check good, replace
