So I was reading up on the forum and saw some posts stating that a clogged PCV (built into the VC) can cause an increase in pressure causing VCG leaks and such.
There is definitely a LOT of oil around the PCV vent, suggesting a failing PCV baffle in the VC, right?

I wasn’t able to find a post stating that there is a way to clean the PCV, other than just buying a new VC. Should I be looking into buying a new VC as well, since if the PCV is actually clogged, then the increase in pressure will just cause more premature leaking VCG issues?

Thoughts?

if the orofice hole is plugged up you can clear it with a small drill bit the size of the inner hole i think it is 2.5 mm (0.098 in) do it by hand not with a drill. but if it is that caked you will need to remove it and wash it out in something that wont damage the plastic vc or replace it and the gaskets.

For the water intrusion, I put a bead of di-electric grease between the top of the valve cover and the portion of the boot which mates to it.

Update: I’m waiting for Amazon to deliver the valve cover gasket (tomorrow). I already have the Intake manifold gasket. I spent the evening today maneuvering in the drivers side fender well taking off most of the intake manifold bolts. Had to unbolt the alternator and random plate on the intake manifold that the harnesses are attached to. Does that plate need to be reinstalled? Does it serve any critical purpose, or can I just not worry about re-installing it and never face any issues?

Cleaning up the valve cover and replacing gaskets. You can see some debris on the spark plug gasket on cyl 2 and 3 which may be where the leak was from.

I cleaned it with some brake clean? I checked the pcv and it didn’t seem clogged either.

Pretty sure some oil spilled down in the cylinders cuz the spark plugs were drenched. I noticed the plugs were not the ones that were recommended (my bad).

I have the correct plugs now, replaced gaskets on VC, IM, and TB. I did notice this cap on the IM, anyone know what it’s for?
