Question about Tire and wheels
Yes Sir, new member on here. Not a new hummer guy, and yes I do most of all the work on my rig. Did not know I had to toe some line when commenting on a post. If I see something I disagree with I will say something. I have followed a lot of the post on this site for a long time and finally decided to get on. Just because a cat had been a member has been on here a long time doesn't mean he can't be wrong. I live in OKC and we have one dealer that handles warranty work. The next closest is a couple hours out. I have replaced cv joints on my dime after the work was rejected by hummer, not the dealer. If I would have went to another dealer the info follows the truck! Mine was rejected because of leveling and tire size (315/70/17). Now, I did the replacement and it only cost a couple hundred but a lot of folks would have to take it in to get done. $1400 is what the dealer quoted me. I am not calling anybody wrong just asking for people to be a little wiser when giving advise. I'm sure no one want a 17 old kid that chose a h3 as his first car to read that is just fine to put 37" on his truck with no mods and end up stuck with a bill like that!
i have no issue at all with speaking your mind. But, once your argument has been shot down it may be time to listen and learn. I'm sure you may have already tried this since you know everything but it's worth a shot anyway. See below;
Have you tried your local Chevy dealer. There are more than a few HUMMER owners who swear by their local Chevy dealer in rural areas. They know guys/gals are going to take their rigs off the beaten path and sku their warrany coverage accordingly. Heck, it's worth a try.

What tire do you have or know of, that weighs so much less ? To have a LT tire and have it M&S rated and be 42 lbs, I would be interested
Thanks
My dealer never had an issue with wheeling wear and tear and replaced cross member's and other parts on a clearly wheeled rig. My H3 has UCP, 2 piece, dual beadlocks wheels, rocker panel protection, skids, 35" KM2 tires, winch and winch bumper, etc. never a wheeling warranty rejection.

66 almost 1/2 of that combo.
I checked the weight on my new 285/75-16 Bridgestone Dueler Revo's are they are 54 lbs each.

I go to treaddepot.com to compare tire weights and they have good prices too. My 35" Kelly tires are 65.4 lbs, Toyo Open Country MT's are 76 lbs and Pitbull Rockers are somewhere around 80 lbs. Drop down to a 33" tire and the Kelly's are 54.6 lbs and a 32" size is 43.6 lbs.
Tainter my points have yet to be shut down brother! If you are still trying to prove some point by saying its fine to run 35" or 37" tires on a bone stock h3 and just "crank" the t-bars, all your doing is proving how wrong you are. Without question you are puting added stress on the drivetrain. Unless you are insane you cannot argue that! Cast diffs, stronger cv joints, reinforcing the steering are all things that "should" be done to handle the added forces applied with larger tires. For guys who say "don't worry just stick 35" under it and go" you boys sure know a lot about the Warranty dept. and what they will allow. As a Tech myself I know a little about the warranty process. But around we go and I will say it one more time, have fun abusing your rigs and keep taking them into the "good ol' boy" deals to get fixed. I will continue to wheel without trashing my truck because I built it for the trail. I hope you new Hummer owners use your heads and make wise choices when it comes to just pitching bigger tire on just because they don't touch the fenders.
David I have been running 35" tires on my H3 for about 4 years now with my T bars cranked to 23.25". I have run quite a few very difficult trails in it and it currently has 95,000 miles on the odometer with no unusual wear and no broken parts. Guess I have just been extremely lucky.
I have run trails from East Texas to central California, including places like Moab, UT. I don't beat or abuse my trucks but run trails tough enough break a truck down if it weren't set up right. I will stay with a t bar crank and 35s and be just fine.
