I have a 2009 Hummer H3 3.7L and it needs to be replaced with a transfer case. But I'm confused, some sites say that the 3.5L and 3.7L versions are all compatible? Can I use the 3.5L version? Thank you!

 

You can easily use any year H3 T Case for any year H3. You have to pay attention to whether you have the BW 4493 (2.64 low range ratio) vs BW 4494 (4.1 low range ratio - rock crawler) assuming you want to put the same one back in. All years use either the 4493 or 4494 depending upon model.

Simple question: My transfer case needs to be replaced. My last one was a 4493 NR4 version, which was installed on my hummer h3 2009 3.7L base sport. And my local dealer has a 2009 5.3L, NR6 T/C. Will it work on my 3.7L NR4 hummer?

 

I know someone who swapped in a 4494 for a 4493 without issue, though technically from the factory the different T Cases also come with different Transfer Case Control Modules.
