Ok I just ordered that PP3

I read through the manual on-line and I think I understand.

I just really do not want to mess up the PCM or anything else.

I believe that what I am looking for is an 'open' circuit ie a broken wire

Do I have the key set on or off while testing?

I dont understand how it works on the can bus wires that I assume are there.

Just to make sure I understand would you give me a real quick guide to using this tester on the Throttle body connector and the gas pedal connector?

I thank you so much yuou have no idea, you are being awesome!

I think I have one final question.

I tried looking at the wiring diagram and I was unsure of the answer.

There are warnings to not use this on Can Bus or ECU inputs.

Wont some of those wires on the throttle body connector and the throttle pedal connector, wont some of them be going to the PCM and couldn't I damage it by using the probe on those wires?

That is my biggest concern.

Do you know which wires I should be checking or is it all of them on both connectors?

You will be testing continuity, not sending voltage to the wires. Power switch should be set to the proper voltage if used. You do not need to use that. Follow the flow chart I posted above. GL

Really darn surprised here.

Been fighting with P2101

I can clear the code, start it, sometimes clear it a couple of more times then it will idle for a bit and finally clear out and run good.

However as soon as you turn it off and restart it it throws the same P2101 again.

I changed the throttle body (although it looked brand new and likely was just changed by previous owner and still the truck did the same thing.

I started to think that it was something to do with it being started, like the voltage dropping and freaking out the PCM.

Kinda like what has been said 100's of times here by senior members.

I am quite into car stereo systems so i have a lot of stuff laying around.

I had a set (quite a few actually) of new "Stinger Style" battery terminials. So I changed out the lead ones for those and added a 1/0 gauge additional ground wire to the negitive side.

Fired it up and NO CODES!.

Couldn't believe it so I turned it off and on a bunch more times. took it out for a ride (first one ever) and truck drove good.

I cannot believe it.

Even when I was installing it all I was thinking no way this is going to do anything.

Well, it did, these cars are voltage sensitive for sure!

thank you 100x

Now to get all the other maintenance done.

Such as changing all fluids. New front end parts, and finally some new tires.

Excited now!

Nice work finding the source!
To bad you wasted $$$ on the working parts you replaced.
Live and learn.
