With a DI engine and catch can you are not introducing the oil vapors into the air induction system via the crank case breather line (stupid emissions sheet).
In the DI engine the fuel does NOT wash over the back of the valve cleaning those oil deposits like a port injected engine.

 

With the Cross bar that runs across the frame. The oil change splash is significant...

So a good diameter catch pan is needed to prevent spillage. Your floor will thank you for good coverage.

A Fumoto oil drain plug eliminates that problem, but as Tainter said, this post was about oil catch cans, not oil drain pans.

 

We have Fumoto drain valves on everything! All trucks, cars, tractor, generator, etc.

 

Thanks for the tip the F-137 looks like a good bet.

 

F137N, the N is for the nipple. You attach a clear tube to the nipple end and the other end of the tube into your oil drain pan.
