Bronxtech, I did check what you said and it isn't loose or malfunctioning physically in any way, looks rather new actually.
Doc, the whole reason I brought it up was prior to checking the transmission fluid I was told to move the shifter through every gear and I couldn't. I am trying to understand more than 1 issue that is happening as they seemed related to me anyway, sorry to bother anyone.

then there is something wrong with the shift link. choke the wheels pop it off and shift it manually count the detents and see if they match the shifter. PDNR321 so 5 clicks if not then the shifter or shifter cable is having issues most likely

pop the cable off the transmission shifter. manually switch the lever and count 5 clicks. choke the wheels if you don't want the truck to run over you while under the truck? neutral is a bitch on an incline. you dont want to be what stops the truck?

It's not choke the wheels, it's CHOCK the tires or chock the wheels. Not sure why they say wheel though? The wheel does not get chocked, the tire does???
Then again I don't know why the under educated use the term "Rims" when they specifically mean wheel either... the "rim" is only a potion of the wheel
Tire Chock - wedges of sturdy material placed against the vehicles tires to prevent movement.
