Hey Guys,
Have had a low oil alert on my 3.5 with 105K on the Od. While waiting for my garage appointment. Found a pool of oil directly under the Sensor...
Seems not only was the sensor failing on reading low oil alerts when there was none. Evidently it was signaling it was about to totally fail. So now since oil is coming out at a rapid pace.
I may have to address this in my garage or have it towed since the hemorrhaging of oil is severe. So since this is not entirely new here. I have orderd some parts and will see when I pull the
old sensor and get a new one in if in fact that is where Xactly the problem is.
Pulled the shields off and it looks like the sensor is the problem. The puddle of oil is the size of a 12 inch pancake... Ouch !
You never noticed a drip on the driveway under the 3? I had an intermittent 1 over a year ago. I removed/cleaned and stored the shields. Found it easily with the shields off, water pump weep hole. Replaced WP & no leaks/drips on the driveway to this day. Someday, I may reinstall the shields?
Yep, no signs of drips till the fail...
May leave the shield plates off as well after this. Not doing any rock crawling lately. Waiting on a socket and part to get back on the road.
OK Boys,
So needed a 1 1/8 deep socket to get the old one off...
Had to take the end off the old one for the proper fit to remove the old failed oil sensor. Needed this socket to put the new part in after taking the passenger wheel off to properly get to it...
