Default H3 Running Boards falling off ... RUST

What do you suggest when the running boards are starting to hang due to rust on the bottom of the truck?

uhhhh, is this a trick question? The running boards attach to the frame. If the frame is not rusted through...

I'll take a stab at it and say new running boards...

Your asking, so I'll give you my thoughts. Unbolt the rusted out ones and LEAVE THEM OFF as not only do they look stupid, rust out and look even more stupid............... they are useless.

Before you say it...... my wife is 5' tall and has never had any issue getting in or out of either of our H3s.

Good luck.

The side tube steps are usually made of several pieces attached to one another.
There is the tube.
There is the bracket, arm assembly.
There is bolts to attach tube to arm's .
There is bolts to attach whole assembly to frame.

If the arms the step fails. If the tube rots the tube falls off. If the frame rots it is more serious lol!

So the mounts (circled) are rusted and not supporting the step?

If so, as stated before "I'll take a stab at it and say new running boards..."
It is not cost effective to just replace the mounts. You will also have a heck of a time removing the mounting bolts if the rust is that bad. Bolts will break in the frame.
