Default Loud bang When Steering

Hello, I own a 2008 Hummer H3. As I was turning into a parking space, it felt like something was binding up. The steering wheel was hard to turn and the car slowed down. I turned the steering wheel more to try and get into the parking spot and then I hear a loud bang coming from the left side, where the tire is. After the loud noise, I got off and checked the tire but everything seemed fine. I turned the steering wheel a few times and it was back to normal.

Your good. Btw, did you check the damage/leave a note on that car?

haha that's funny. Actually, there were no cars in the parking lot. The sound came from the car.

could have been stuck in 4 lo / hi lock or a wheel bearing or ball joint. a cv shaft. you need to check your truck basically

Except for the "bang" sound, what you describe is normal for an H3 on pavement turning at or near full steering lock. H3s have a tight turning radius to navigate off road obstacles and are Full Time AWD/4WD. Pavement pounders never seam to realize that when you crank the wheel for a sharp turn the front tires are actually pointed inside of a smooth arc and are pushed while rotating with a binding feeling where the rubber meets the solid surface. Do the same turn on loose dirt and you do not get that feeling.

Moral of the story, don't turn that sharp on paved surfaces unless absolutely necessary.

With your noise, I would get under and inspect the half shaft CV joints and boots. Make sure your truck is in 4High not lock.
