Default 2006 Hummer 3 steering wheel excessive play?

Hi, the steering wheel just started with a little more play right to left and left to right while driving.

I thought it might be low on p. steering fluid but when I checked it cold, it was a quarter over the fill line.

I checked for play down the steering wheel shaft going to the (gear?)box in engine compartment (sorry, I dont know the correct term for the "gear" box.

I felt a little play turning the steering shaft but nothing out of the ordinary.

Anyone have any advice?
Thanks in advance.

Intermediate shaft wear will have a "dead spot" in the center of the steering wheel.

Thank you,
do you know if it is dangerous to ride until I'm able to get fixed?

I have no idea what your actual fix is because I can't see, hear, feel the issue for myself. From what you described that is my recommendation. As far as safe. I can't comment on that either with any certainty. Your decision.
