Default Lost monsoon subwoofer performance

Hey everyone, just upgraded my head unit to a KENWOOD DMX9707s. I used a PAC RP5-GM11 and it seems like I’ve lost a LOT of subwoofer performance in the monsoon system.

Does anyone have experience with the PAC adapter and monsoon sound system and did you experience the same?

Did you find a solution to this?

The solution is use a different adapter or upgrade your sub and add an amp for the sub.

Thanks @Doc Olds

Research suggests that a PAC RP5-GM11 should re-enable the AMP and SUB.

Any one got experience using one of these?

The adaptor allows the head unit to power all the speakers, tweeters and sub. End of story. The adapter does not act like the GM head unit that separates the speaker and sub channels.
Does the adapter work? Yes. Does the adapter work like the OEM head unit? No.

I used the Crux SOCGM-17C for my Alpine ilx-w650, with all new Rockford Fostgate speakers, tweeters and sub, plus DynaMat and same thing..... it all sounds great, just not as much Monsoon Amp sub channel.

Thank you again.

I have the Monsoon system, and the previous owner installed a non branded after market Android Headunit, as well as additional 360 cameras. After removing the headunit, I can see the RCA output for the sub is not connected to anything - I assume this is because the factory wiring would not have used RCA's.

I can hear very low volume sound coming from the rear door speakers, as well as a very very faint sound from the sub. This does not change even when I adjust the sound balance F to R.

I do not have OnStar, so I am not concerned about losing this, also the door chimes are currently not working.

If I was to introduce either a Crux SOCGM-17C or PAC RP5-GM11 harness, should this re-enable the full volume in both the rear speakers and sub?

Thank you

We do not know what your head unit specs are............ some of those things are garbage, some OK. Have you pulled the rear sub panel to look for other modifications by the prior owner?

As for adding an adapter, we would need to know what the prior owner did for that. If they tried to wire it directly in some unconventional configuration, if you re-do the install properly with the correct adapter maybe it would work. Too much missing info for me to say yes and there are others here with much more audio knowledge than me.

The RCA sub outs would not be connected with an adapter either. Those would go to a new dedicated sub amp wired to the sub or a new sub.

Good luck.

What ohm speakers did you install 3 or 4?
