Yes, everything else would work and that is why I said that.

Check the ground connection at the starter. Wiggle the wires to the starter to make sure each has integrity and is securely connected. Then start it.

if the vehicle is new to you might it have a aftermarket alarm with a kill switch that might have triggered when a battery was removed?

Good question, but no. Dealing with the wonderful Pass Lock system. (Boy, would I like to get hold of the genius who came up with that thing!) Lol!

Smile Update

Thanks to everyone for their help! It ended up being the starter! Now I have a new battery and terminals, with a super clean fuse box, so there are a few less things to cause issues in the near future. Thanks again!!

Good news, I like happy endings! A celebratory song is in order.....

The starter is connected to the lug nut, the lug nut is connected to the ignition switch, the ignition switch is connected to the muffler bearing, the muffler bearing is connected to the fuses, the fuses are connected to the alarm kill switch, the alarm kill switch is connected to the starter wires....
