Default Inexpensive Mods to 2006 H3

All I did was have my mechanic:

- Replace OEM air filter with K&N high performance air filter

- Install throttle body spacer

- Install Bosch Platinum IR Fusion spark plugs

I did not check MPG, but notice no improvement in performance as advertised.

Any ideas? I don't yet want to spend for replacement exhaust or cold air intake. I was thinking about synthetic oil. That would probably be most helpful in coming winter here in NJ.

You pretty much wasted money on a bunch of stuff that wont help with performance or mpg. K&N filters can let too much dirt in the engine and oil on the sensor. Throttle body spacers dont work and I recomend installing AC Delco 41-103 OEM plugs for best performance.

An Airdoc intake is only around $150 (I think) and my engine sounded so much better after adding it. Without a new exhaust or PCM tune, I'm not sure what else there is to help mpg.

I have never had an issue with ever adding a K & N air filter, they actually do help, for the cost of never buying another filter I think it's worth it, just because K & N advertises more power doesn't always mean that's going to happen, but you would save more money by having one. As far as the throttle body spacer isin't that supposed to improve throttle response? and I think there has been a huge debate about spark plugs forever. In my two stroke motorcycles I found that Iridium plugs work the best by never fowling, and the plug color after two summers of riding (4,000 miles) is a light brown color. Now I know that a motorcycle is different but Iridium are offered for almost any vehicle. I think it is preference just like motor oil. I run full synthetic and a small difference was made, but sometimes it's the little things that all add up to make a bigger difference. It's all relative to the point!!!
