Default Ignition and coil

I was told that my ignition and coil were bad My Hummer would not start and the key was also stuck when the batt went low
They said the coil and ignition would run $1100 to replace
They said this is a common Hummer problem

Any suggestions Is this a true statement ?
This is my second H3 and I never had this problem before

Year, Model and Miles?

When you key is stuck in the ignition that is GM's way of saying "Hey, your battery is DEAD!" Did you have issues before that?

Are you still using the crappy OEM Battery Terminal Connectors? If so, hack them of and replace with a quality aftermarket set like Stingers or your favorite brand. (Must have said that a thousand times).

If you have an I5, you have one coil pack on each spark plug, five total. Chances of all five dying simultaneously are probably close to winning the Lotto. You can buy all five for between $125 and $150 depending on year.
On a scale of 1-10, replacing coil packs is around a 2.

First, if the battery went dead because of sitting without use, charge it completely, otherwise get a new battery AND replace the Battery Terminal Connectors either way.
See what happens, will it start, how does it run. Any check engine light and codes?

Easy stuff first. Report back. Avoid whoever "told" you they want $1,100 of your cabbage.

Default Thanks Doc

Thank you for your information No this is the first time that this has happened 2007 H3 96000 miles
I replaced the battery no issues there with that
But it wouldn’t turn over after 7 or 8 tries the next day like it wasn’t getting gas or something Finally I got it running and I didn’t have more trouble starting again

To make sure it was ok I brought it in for service and they told me the ignition code came up and it needs to be replaced
$1100 was the total estimate including labor

Find a different service shop....you know, one that ISN'T in the business of robbing their customers.

Even if your shop is just throwing parts at it:
5x
D1935E D1935E
coils are only $123.55 with tax and shipping.

1x
D1462G D1462G
ignition switch only $52.57 with tax and shipping.

I still don't see $1,100.00
