Default Battery issues- replaced two in last 2 years

I've got an 03 and it seems like every 6 mos. I come out to a dead battery. I think it is my ignition cylinder. Sometimes when I remove the key. The battery light on the dash stays illuminated. I have figured out that sometimes the key can be removed while the ignition cylinder isn't fully disengaged.

Can someone do me a favour and go out to their truck put the key in the ignition and turn it to start and then remove it.

Does the battery light stay come on for a second and then go out?

Just wondering if this is normal or the computer is telling me the battery is on the way out.

Thanks

You nailed it. If the battery light stays on you will kill your battery. My 03 had the same problem. A new switch will fix it. You need the electrical part of the ignition switch not the ignition lock cylinder.
