Default Idler pulley

I was replacing my serpentine belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley. When I got to my idler it wouldn’t come off. the bolt comes off but the pulley stays there? Any ideas?

I5 idler pulleys are held in place by a bolt, through an outer cup and inner bushing. Your cup may be corroded and stuck to the bushing. Tap it and it should fall off. "Tap it" means gently strike it with something metal like a small hammer, pry bar, large wrench, it doses not mean pound on it.

I was in there tapping trying to wiggle getting my arm cut up by the fan shroud. I think today I am going to dig in and get it off. It must be corroded like crazy. Wish me luck.

After you remove the bolt, spray some penetrating lubricant inside, give it a few minutes then tap on it.

Sprayed it then took a piece of wood and a pry bar and finally got it.

LOL "it [does] not mean pound on it". Had to chuckle at that clarification :-)

Eurynomestolas, when you start pounding, please record a video of it and post it.

It must have been a little corrosion like doc said. I can tell you it feels like my h3 has a little more pep with a new belt and the new tensioner.
