Default Belt change frequency

Had the Truck sit the last two weeks while I was away on business and I took it for a drive this morning and noticed the belt squeak really loud while acceleration.

I had the belt changed last December at 50k Miles and a year later its doing the same thing? How often do you guys have to change a belt? I now have 60k miles. I thought I read somewhere they can last 100k miles +....

My belt is still fine at almost 150k miles. The fan clutch or idler pulley has been making some noise for quite a while though.

There's a thread about upgraded versions of the idler pulley in case you want to look into it.

Belt changes are based upon inspection and "change as necessary", there is no number of miles tied to it. Depends upon humidity, dirt, if oil, radiator fluid, or other contaminants have been involved, if your water pump failed, idler and/or tensioner pulley went bad, if a rodent chewed it, and how old they are, etc.......

I would be looking at the tensioner and idler pulleys if your belt is a year old with 10K miles.
