Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
You're thinking of the K&N replacement for the OEM filter.
The K&N 'Cold Air intake system' draws air from a segregated cold-air box open to the wheel well:
Gain a guaranteed increase in horsepower and torque with a K&N Cold Air intake system featuring a mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube. Each system is paired with a washable, reusable High-Flow Air Filter featuring oiled cotton filter media. The oversized, conical filter design allows you to go up to 100,000 miles between filter services under normal highway driving conditions. A custom heat shield or air box helps protect intake air from the high temperature of your engine bay.

That is a joke right?
That intake you have pictured draws air form inside the engine compartment. The OEM already draws air from outside the engine compartment.
A straight tube air intake like an AIRDOC that replaces the OEM intake muffler is what you want.
Chips are not worth the packaging they come in. PCM/ECM tuning is the way to go.

"A segregated cold-air box" does not exist with the K&N Intake, and it leaves the Resonator Box in the system. It should be apparent there ain't no way that barricade it over in the corner attempt keeps out warm underhood heated air.

I posted a paragraph from K&N ^, in which they stated:

I had posted a paragraph from K&N ^, in which they stated:
Your dispute is with them.
Nope my "dispute" is still with you because you read something and repost it as gospel without thinking about it. Hmmmm, how the heck does that draw cold air from under the hood without a sealed filter-box and tube to outside the engine compartment?
I posted a paragraph from K&N ^, in which they stated:
You can take your argument to them.
True CAI is sealed to OUTSIDE the engine compartment! COLDER AIR=DENSITY INCREASES=+HP
Air Density – The Key to Making Power
What Is Air Density?
Air density is the mass per unit volume. It can be calculated using a formula that relates pressure and temperature, two key variables affecting air density.
