Help with 2006 H3 parking brake
Hey all
I've lurked around the forums ever since I got my H3, but haven't had a whole lot to contribute... but I was looking for some help nonetheless.
I try to do all the maintenance myself but I've hit a wall on this one. My parking brake won't engage, I push the pedal down and when I let off it comes right back up. I've checked the cables underneath and everything is working, not too loose and I can see the parking brakes are actually engaging. But the pedal itself just won't stay down. I'm thinking the actual parking lever assembly is hosed. Has anybody taken one of these apart?
I checked online and I found this replacement assembly, it certainly looks similar so I was going to take the gamble and try it.
TIA!

I could see pretty much everything without taking off the panel as the assembly is exposed, but it seems that the ratchet part is internal. Has anyone ever replaced the assembly? The one I was looking at on Amazon seems to be the same, but the cable seems short. I was thinking of buying it anyway and then I could see how it works.

As far as the peddle to engage it, I can slightly feel a ratcheting as I push on it, but not like it was before it wouldn't engage. I had a friend push the brake down and watched the cables underneath, that cable definitely gets tight and it does engage the brakes. It's almost like the ratchet that keeps the cable in place has failed in the assembly.
