Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Turns out passenger side roof drain drains fine. I tested with water and drains out near wheel. I have water on passenger floor. When I’m parked on a slope water gets in. It shouldn’t. There is even water in the door pocket, let’s me confirm it’s not roof drain. Is it door seal? This happened with a previous new H3 when I was parked on a slope and it rained. How was there no class action suit against GM?
Vertical or horizontal slope? The weatherstripping on the door, to seal air in the cabin. When water passes through, it flows down the jamb contoured to exit at the bottom. Without the door seal, water would not enter the cabin, since there is a jamb seal to prevent the water from entering the cabin.
Class action????? It is up to you, the owner of a vehicle to perform all maintenance when needed, like clean out and keep sunroof drains clear, clean and inspect weather seals and window seals, replace if necessary.
Did all the water you used for the testing drain out on the outside with none going inside the vehicle? Park at the same location and slope you see the problem happening, then test with 8-10 oz. of water with passenger door open and use a flashlight to inspect for results over many minutes.
The water I tested with didn’t go inside. I am wondering if it’s door seal or top panel?
I think roof drain design in general is flawed- I had to modify the pipe. How do I tell if door seal is defective? Could water get in from that black panel ?
The roof top trim with tracks for the roof cross bars are held in place by riv-nuts, they can break or the original hole they are mounted into can rust/corrode and then leak inside.
Do a search, threads have talked about this and may help.
I have had at least one H3 continuously since 2/20/2007 that sit outside 24/7/365, none have ever been wet inside from a leak. Had a bag cooler leak melted ice onto the back carpet one time is about as close to wet as any got.

With the window and door closed, pour water around the door seam, check for leak inside. If it doesn't leak into the cabin, pour water on the roof rack track and check for leak inside. Keep pouring water/or use a garden hose without the nozzle, in different areas until you see a leak inside the cabin.
