I'm not stating your overheat caused damage, until you verify CTS temp with an IR temp gun.
How much longer for you to verify?

Unfortunately I'm not being able to get my hands on one and now we havew4 days of public holiday and most places will be closed here (entire Middle East actually) so hopefully by next week 🤧

I was thinking of something else, if i remove the thermostat and drive around the same places i did before where the temps went up just to check if the temps go back up, wouldnt that confirm that i have a circulation issue? Should i try that if i dont get a IR gun?

Yes, no thermostat=no controlled flow.

What is the max safe temp the H3 could run at?

Normal coolant temperature varies between 195° to 210°, above 220° will start causing problems.

I just bought a 2007 H3 with similar issue. I am in Nevada temps have been over 100F as of lately. I hooked up my scanner and was getting 220F and in some instances 225F, coasting or turning off AC brings the temps down. Doc Old guy seems to suggest this is totally normal, that fail safe doesn't kick in until 245F. Additionally, Dex-Cool 50/50 boiling point in a pressurized system is 265F..

I am going to do a fresh drain and fill because I have no idea what was put in it before. Color seems fine, but concentration may be off. Who did your coolant?

this is how it should be. just like all other cars. if above the middle, it is already overheating.

Interesting, from what I've gathered is that the gauge is not accurate, might as well just have a light that blinks when you're over heating. At half way mark my coolant is 195 degrees, 3/4 is 220, is 220 considered overheating?
