Your restriction will always end up at the smallest diameter, so even if you added tube reducers to allow for larger tubing you'll still have a bottleneck where it exits through the firewall and the sunroof trough nipple. If you remove the 'X's you'll be fine.

while waiting for a heavy downpour to slow down I ran my finger anywhere I could reach around the sunroof while parked slightly downhill and could find not a trace of water.
I do the silicone grease clean and wipedown about 4 times a year.

oops, its time!!

I have had an ongoing issue where my speakers would stop working every time it rains. If it dried out for a couple days some of the speakers would come back on. I took it to a car audio place and they said both front door speakers had water damage and the head unit was bad. They could not see any rust or water damage to the head unit or in the dash board area. I do have a sun roof, but I have never had any water leak inside the car, never on the carpets, seats, floor boards, on-star mic, sun roof, nothing. Is it possible that some how the head unit got water damage? I have tried spraying a hose over the car for over 10 minutes and the speakers never go out, it's only when it rains. I'm worried that my new speakers and head unit are going to be damaged again by rain. I am really at a loss as to why the rain makes the speakers go out as I can never find any water any where on the inside of the car! I have tested the drain tubes in the sun roof by pouring water in them and they seem to be draining properly, never see any leaks inside during the test. PLEASE HELP! It happens every time it rains so it seems like it's too much to be a coincidence and the head unit didn't just go bad from being old.

Have you tried pouring water down the tubes with the panel off so you can see where the water is going? There is an obstruction or a hole or one of the tubes has come apart.

Thanks for the post! I just started having problems about 2 months ago. My passenger side gets flooded. I am going to try to fix it this weekend.

Yes, I had both A pillars off while I poured an entire water jug into each drain hole in the sun roof. I never saw any water other than what poured out under the truck. Is there any other reason rain would make the head unit go crazy? Condensation? Do the drain tubes even go near the head unit once they're behind the dash? I don't see any water inside but this rain situation has me scared.rain seems to be the only variable when the speakers all stop. I'm afraid my BCM will get water damage or something. I don't get why soaking the truck with a hose has no effect but rain does????? I'm at my wits end.

monsoon with rear amp?

open up and check connections.

if you have just a front mounted radio, pull it and remove, replace conn.

don't know why but humidity may cause conn trouble?

always check connections.
only a guess
