The new cv and u joints were delivered today. The cv joint came with a squirter full of grease. what do I do with that? There is way too much for the splines and the joint has grease in it already. I am sure that they intend for me to do something with it but there are no instructions.

We're going to swap out the front u joint while we have the shaft out and I am sure that this one is 16 years and 120k miles old with no grease fitting. The new u joint has a grease fitting, does the grease fitting orientation matter?

 

You went with a Dorman replacement? Only one I know of that gives you a small tube of grease.

Doesn't matter about the U Joint Zerk position.

 

No it was an skf. All of the ones that Rockauto sells come with the grease.
