Default ABS/ Traction Control

I just replaced my BCM on a 2008 H3 due to the headlights not turning on. The new BCM was programmed with my VIN. Once connected my headlights now work correctly, but I am getting ABS Failure, Traction Control Failure with the only code C0569. I also can't get the truck to shift out of park. I then reconnected my old BCM and there are no codes and everything works except my headlights. Any help would be appreciated.

Does this mean the new BCM is the issue with the EBCM? On the advice of a previous post of yours, I bought the Vident i400. Can the Vident fix either BCM ore the EBCM?

Got a sunroof?

Your old BCM has a short.

Hi Doc Olds,
Yes, I have a sunroof. There appears to have been a water issue in the past. I checked the front drains and they were clear. I found the rear drains were 100% clogged and there was water in the rear foot wells and occasionally in the cargo area. I have since cleared them. The previous owner had replaced the BCM as it has a label saying "recycled part - returns not allowed if seal removed or broken". I had no codes with the old BCM but the high/low beams didn't work, and the odometer wasn't turning. I tested the wire harness, switch, multifunction switch, fuse, relay, and bulbs and all were good. Based on that, I assumed the BCM was bad and hadn't been programmed to the VIN based on the odometer not turning. I ordered a replacement BCM programmed with my VIN. Connected it and went through the setup and lights are now 100% and the odometer works, but the ABS and Traction Control lights are on. In addition I can't get it out of park without pressing the bypass at the base of the shifter. The only code is C0569, and shows current and history. Researching the code I found a few generic posts saying that either the EBCM or TCCM needs to be programmed/ calibrated. Based on a post by Hummerz I bought the Vident i400 and used it to program my key fobs. I haven't found a way to relearn or calibrate the EBCM or TCCM. I am not sure which of them, or both, are the issue or if they are bad and need to be replaced. If I replace them do they automatically calibrate themselves once they communicate with the BCM or do they need to be programmed. Any help you could provide is greatly appreciated.

Who programmed your replacement BCM? It needs work and probably was not done correctly.

So I opened the replacement BCM that came with the car to see if there was corrosion or anything noticeable. One part is fried to the point the copper wire is out of the pcb. Photo attached. Module mechanics is refunding the purchase of the refurbished BCM. I ordered a new BCM from GM Parts Now. Now I need to find someone to program it. Any recommendations?

So now I am totally confused. I reassembled the old BCM and installed it. After going through everything and clearing codes, no codes are currently showing. The C0569 showed as history but I could clear it. I took it out for a drive and all the same old issues are there. The headlights don't work and the odometer doesn't turn. It runs fine with no issues. So I am questioning if the new BCM is accurate and there is an issue with the EBCM that throws the C0569 code, lights the ABS and Traction failures, and doesn't let me shift it out of park. Maybe the old damaged BCM doesn't see those and doesn't light the headlights due to the broken wire. OR is the new BCM poorly programmed and that is the issue with the codes? Is there a way to test the EBCM? I have a C5 Corvette that used to throw ABS/Stabiltrak/Active Handling codes until I opened and resoldered several cracked joints. Is that an issue with H3s?

Wait for your replacement BCM and then you will know. As my Grandad used to say, Don't fix it if it ain't broke."

My guess is it is all in your BCM and I would treat it that way.

I do not know anybody that has had an H3 EBCM problem, but it is a part like any other and can fail at some point.

If you do not have a Tech II and are not sure how to do the BCM programming, take it to a local GM dealer or reputable Auto Electric Repair facility.

Good luck and please let us know/follow up.
