Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Recently have run into power reduced mode issues with my 2006 H3. I started by checking all the contacts on all the relays, fuses, and wiring harness connections. They are clean. I switched relays around and no change. Randomly had number 5 cylinder misfiring. Replaced a coil and that fixed that. Still in reduced power mode I found a broken wire to the throttle body and repaired it. That definitely helped it run smoother again but I am still in power reduced mode. I clear the codes and it is an active code always. I currently only have code P0123 Throttle / Pedal position sensor / switch A circuit high. It is running smooth on all 5 cylinders too. I changed out my original pedal yesterday for a new one and no change. I have opened up all the wiring harness on top of the engine and wiggled wires all day yesterday. No change.
Throttle body looks clean but I will pull it off and clean it with cleaner. Someone else told me to do a tps re learn….. not sure if that will do anything
If you try a new TB, make sure it is a real ACDelco to save headache down the road.
Before I would buy anything I would make sure your TB re-wire job is 100% and that there are not other harness issues somewhere. Also clean the connection with CRC Electronics Cleaner to make sure it is clean and correct.
Doc olds thanks for your input. You seem like the hummer genius here.
problem is I am in Mexico and don’t have access to a ac Delco throttle body right away. There is a tech smart s20064 available but I’m not sure I want to trust an unknown brand. Thoughts?
Sometimes it pays to wait for the right replacement part. Kinda the Tortoise vs the Hare thing.
Over the years of seeing what people try, it surely seams that all TBs are not made the same. There is a guy in NJ that reworks TB to perfection and he tells me even some of the ACDelco units test as bad. He refuses to work on any off brands at all.
