turns out pep boys never did an alignment. Got an alignment and it still pulls a little to the left, but only sometimes. Maybe it needs new tie rods? The steering feels kinda loose for me, like there's too much play in the steering wheel but I'm not used to driving trucks/SUVs so maybe I'm just paranoid.

you need to have your steering components checked properly idk if "pep boys" is qualified. the steering should be tight and not wander or need constant corrections when driving.

10-4 thanks. It's definitely not "tight". The mechanic today (proper mechanic shop) said everything looked good but I'll get a second opinion.

Any ideas what it could be?

Initially a "pull" and "wobbly", and now "loose". Just make sure you have good insurance, before you drive!

Check if steering shaft u-joints are fine(upper-lower), multiple mechanics missed that on my car.
Also, there is a gear inside your steering rack/pinion that your shaft is driving, it wears out with time, there is adjuster bolt something on top of it that will push those gears closer.
Will make steering harder but on worn gears will fix(temp) play/wobble/catch car on the road mini game.

Or shell out papers for proper mechanics, not cheaper = better mindset.

Check the joints on the front propeller.
