Question 07 H3 A/C Issue (No cold Air)

Ok, me and a buddy that knows A/C's decently started troubleshooting my A/C not working. It has not worked in the 9 Months I have owned it but finally i have some time and money to fix it right. High side reads ~175 (75 degree day) and the low side reads ~55 until the compressor engages then it slowly drops to ~10 before the compressor kicks off. The previous owner has put either green dye or the leak sealer in it and I appear to have a leaky Schrader valve, which is on order to be replaced. I added a little refrigerant and the high side goes up but the low side never seems to stay up enough to stay running. Figure I need to have it evacuated and refilled but wanted to know what you guys thought.

Considered draining the system, and replacing the dryer, expansion valve and orifice filter and then recharging it after pulling a vacuum on it over night.

Any ideas or do i just need to take it in.

Happy to take any readings that might assist with diagnosis.

Visit AutoGuysLand to review what happens if you overcharge your car ac if you have the same issue. Any ideas or do i just need to take it in.

There are 3 common reasons that make A/C issue as refrigerant leak, an electrical climate control issue, or a problem with the air conditioning compressor. You should take to dealer to diagnostic it.

I would absolutely NOT under any circumstances take an out of warranty vehicle to the "Dealer", last place on Earth to do repair business.

Wait until you replace the suspected leaky valve before you do more. Have you had the HVAC recall repair performed?

The schrader valve has been replaced and it is holding refrigerant now. System was checked over well with no other leaks found. While they had the valve out they went ahead and replaced both valves and pumped the system down for 24 hours, then refilled it. We are still getting some strange readings now and again, but more odd is that the compressor is kicking off after 8-15 seconds. Pressure is still in the mid 30's so it is not tripping the low pressure, and the high is under 150 so not tripping high pressure either. The only thing is the ambient temp is about 60 degrees during testing and we could not find if the hummer has a temp sensor that stops the compressor if temps are under a certain level.

When it warms up I will respond back, but it is odd that on max a/c with recirculate the compressor does not run more than about 15 seconds.

I had the dealer check my VIN and they said there were no open recalls, so I assume so. I have only had it about 5 months but plan to keep it for the long haul.

Thank you for your help!
