Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Bought a new air filter a couple weeks ago. Finally opened the box and Lo and Benold -- a near original filter!??? Dated NOV 04. Wondering if original owner had it changed and no one else ever thought to do it? Or perhaps whoever did it last just got one from some very old stock? Either way, it was DEF DUE!!! Guess I'm guilty of not checking it since purchase and believing the dealership that it had been done. I know I haven't been anywhere to get one that dirty. Thinking I'll do a TB and MAF Sensor cleaning next.
In general, you should replace your car's air filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. However, you might need to replace it more often if you drive in dusty conditions or on dirt roads frequently.

Z man is correct... I check mine once a year. I'm only running around town. Very few long trips. My oil change schedule is every 6 months ...way before the suggested change by Mobil 1. Mostly stop and go driving. I try to get the oil up to temp but sometimes the trip is to short. Hence I just change it. My internals must be clean as a whistle at 75K.
the fist mention of servicing the air filter on the 2003 H2 manual states in sections 7-9 and 7-10 first to inspect the air filter at 15k and then to replace it at 30k niles so it is a 15k inspection / 30k replacement schedule
not the hummerz copy paste generic automotive schedule. i do not think you would want to pop for a 90$ filter plus shipping that often.
Good info folks. Having grown up working on older vintage Carb engines, I'm used to checking points, plugs, air filters, etc every few thousand. Ahhhh, the days of old and adjusting points with a worn distributor cam. Anyway.... Soon after purchase the tranny went out & I took it to a GM dealership to put a new tranny in. Since I had just purchased it a few weeks before I asked them to change all fluids, filters, plugs, etc. after putting the tranny in. Seems they forgot an item.....
As I have only put a couple K on it since then, i didnt feel rushed in the past year to check the air filter. I know, never "trust"....
Anyhoooo.....on to the next project. Just gotta decide what that will be. Bes8des the driving fun...
