Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

What have you done to your h2 today?

Just partially finished . 4 cans covers all undercarriage (1hand) also the 2 front fenders ... Im going to need at least 2 more for the rear and a 2 touch up hand

If you plan to do the whole undercarriage and 4 fenders liners then 6pack is what you need

Btw . Use a mask , hat and long sleeves . Will do a little mess bit ot is worth it

Just have to make connections under vehicle tomorrow, not bad for 45 minutes work, looks trick in raw Aluminum finish..

Looks good next to the new 253 Amp Alternator.

Thats a great idea . I hate to change the filter cause the mess it makes .

I just added one of the mity-vacs, to my shop, that sucks fluids out of the dipstick tubes, so now i don't have to crawl under the h2 any longer.

This was a 60.00 mod, and best part, it looks trick...trick is good.

Finished installing a Trucool transmission cooler. Part # LPD47391 w/o thermal bypass. The old oem cooler could barely keep temps at 200 on hot days. While driving today, it reached 145 at its hottest.

You did a great favor to the transmission .
I did the mod a few months ago . Before always on 200+ .. now even Fl summer(100°) or while drive on the mountains never went over 155 max

Newest update, finally installed an oil filter relocation kit. I was fed up with getting covered in oil trying to remove the stock oil filter and rigging up various things to drain the oil away from the crossmember. Another member did the same, I had bought kit previous and none of them worked but this kit was perfect:

I had originally thought about putting the filter sideways mounted to the hood bracket but I wanted something more stout so I ended up removing the driver side rock rail/steps and mounted the filter between the front body mount and first rock rail mount. The filter is protected by both but I mounted it a little low so it does hang down maybe 1/2 inch or so beneath the brackets. I don't make it a habit of running things over so I'm not concerned but I'll definitely keep an eye on it. If I would have mounted it any higher the bolts would have interfered with the upper mounting bolt for the rock rail.

The filters the kit call for are absolutely gigantic, none of the options are for Mobil 1 so I found the equivalent:

Compared to the stock filter:

I ended up finding another filter, same diameter as the stock filter but longer, only one with the correct threads which was the one I went with:

Mounted off the truck:

Back on the rig:

Engine side:

Hell of a project, I spent more time trying to figure out where to mount the filter because I mainly wanted to keep it out of the engine compartment. Plus there wasn't much room underneath with all the exhaust piping which is why I chose outside the frame rail.

I'm also working on swapping all my hold halogens on my roof rack with LED's so more pics to come!

What I did yesterday was dangerous . Dont try this at home

I was 600 miles away from home when suddenly the truck start getting lot lot lot of smoke everywhere .

So I stopped on the Hyw 475 ( georgia)(10pm) to find out the tranny hose to the cooler disconnected so all the tranny fluid was spilled every where ( all this with a kid amd 3 dogs )

Tow the truck to nearest hotel next day hook hose back with 2 clams this time and add 6 qt of transmission fluid

Also got to wash all the truck . Oil was everywhere then drove to Tennessee stoping every 50 miles to check everything

Lesson learned , a highway or Hotel far from home is a bad place to change tranny oil .

Good news . I get to know wonderful people in georgia who help me .. and the tranny didnt suffer any damage

Very nice.
So the M1-301 doesn't have the proper threads, but the m1-209 does? Interesting. I'd love to have a filter that large on the H2. Is there's any noticeable increase in oil capacity?

I'm going to have to do this to my mom's H3. That one is more of a pain to change than the H2!

The 301 does have the correct threads, that filter size is what the relocation kit calls for. The thing is gigantic! I was just trying different mobil 1 filters and found the 209 that worked as well. Same diameter as the stock filter but longer. I had to put roughly 7.5 quarts in the thing to fill her up. I guess between the added hose and filter capacity, didn't think it would be that much but I guess. Oil pressure has been normal however I do have a small leak at the filter side of the kit....damn. Now I have to mess with that, I knew it was too good to be true from the get go....

One thing I have to do that I wasn't planning on is replacing the bulbs in the rear bumper lights. One went out & they are both filled with water. I think you pry them out, because they are held in with tabs, right? I'll have to check the service manual later.

I guess it's a good excuse to move to LEDs.

Lesson learned, indeed! At least you & your family are ok! It's a bonus that the H2 made it out unscathed!

How was your trip?

Oh wow. That's a monster filter alright. Are you running regular or synthetic? I'm curious what your change interval will be w/ whatever you're running, plus the extended filter.

Do you think the oil leak is user error of an issue w/ the kit itself? Not making any sort of dig, but instead trying to get some info before I try type of kit out myself.

The kit you bought also works w/ the 6.2L (2008/2009s) and all H3 alphas (5.3L engine), in case anyone is interested.

I was looking into the Amsoil bypasses for the duramaxes for future applications & those cost a freaking fortune. $400+ I'm not sure what you paid, but I see your kit for around $70 on amazon. That's much more palatable.
