Torsion Bar Question
Hi,
I do not post much but, learn quite a bit from you all. I bought a 2008 H2 last June. I am ready to level lift it and noticed that the torsion bar keys sit quite different from each other. By looking at the pics, could something be mounted wrong or do you think I just need to buy new torsion bars because one is weak?
That is not really uncommon for them to be under different amounts of tension like that. The ones on my GMC truck are at least a half an inch difference in how much the bolt is in them. Its quite likely that is how they came from the factory.
Thanks! This is just after I bought it. I will have to take an updated soon. I have changed a few things here and there. I got lucky and found a good deal on a clean black one with the brick interior.
The only way to know for sure if the suspension is set correctly is to put in on scales and make the front equal and the rear equal in weight. Try setting the bolts equal and see what the fender gaps look like also make sure the keys are the same. Some keys are different and if they are miss matched they will look as yours does.

Thanks for the info guys. I was hoping for a simple answer, Lol. If i bought the 'lifting keys' would they still get the proper lift even if the had to be set uneven. I just did not imagine the bolts would be that much different.
Please keep in mind, to prevent unusual tire wear, any modification to the torsion bars will require a new front end alignment job when you're done as it will change the castor and camber on the front wheels.
