Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default Separate battery for fuse box/ecu and starter?

I may have mentioned this before, but I think it deserves its own thread. I want to run my interior accessories, radio, lights, cigarette outlets on a big deep cycle and have a separate starting battery with the positive run directly to the starter solonoid with an automatic cutoff going to the deep cycle/alternator for charging. Basically using the deep cycle as the main battery hooked to the fuse box and ecu.

My only concern is having the ecu on a different battery than the starter, and cranking over the engine with low voltage to the ecu if I drain the battery. Does it seem like this would cause an issue?

Not to mention all my lights, air compressors and everything are run to the drivers side, and on switched acc power and would require a complete rewire.

An interesting idea that crossed my mind.... If you could find room for it (maybe under the fender brace between the stock fusebox and firewall). Get another fusebox from a junkyard from full size GM SUV or pickup that is basically identical along with cut connectors. The fuseboxes have a main power feed and then all of the accessory feeds come off a few big connectors on the bottom. They are easy to depin - then you could move certain circuits to the secondary fusebox that is fed from the other battery in a nice manner. I can pull all of the connector pinouts. I actually modified mine and used the stock fog light fuse and relay which are not functional on an H2 by adding a couple of pins from a junkyard fusebox I bought off eBay a few years back (to also do mods to my GMC Sierra) to make them functional.

There is certainly not enough room for another fuse box after the battery's in. The 08s box is absolutely massive. I think I'll take my chances. I wouldn't expect anything to happen. Just wanted to throw it out there in case im missing something stupid.

This is a fantastic idea though. Way to make things neat.

Was thinking about getting on of these to stick somewhere too

Ah - Yeah I forgot the 08+ have a different fuse box. An add on fuse block is a great idea but I'd definitely not use a cheapo Chinese one. The off brand Chinese connectors and whatnot tend to be very thin and poor quality. Get a Bussmann - going to cost a bit more but top quality (even what the military uses).
