Default rear radio question

Hey all,
I am wondering if the rear radio setup (the one in the center console for the rear seat by way of head phones) operates independant from the main front head unit? Also, is there a OEM rear plastic that doesnt have a rear radio in it?

Nope and nope....

I think someone was at one point looking at having a pocket 3D printed to install there. Same overseas guy who did the printed ones for the Onstar delete I believe.

So, you are saying that I can not remove the rear radio without it affecting something?
I have already removed the front head unit without issue. The rear I would like to remove and put in a blank. Are you saying this isnt possible?
As for the OnStar replacement.... I have an OEM cubby that I have had for almost a decade that I am finally getting ready to install

Oh you can remove it. That will not affect anything that I'm aware of. I was just saying that it is not independent of the main stereo. In other words if the stock stereo is removed and a specialized adapter is not bought, than it will have no functionality.

As far as a blank panel goes - you would have to fabricate something yourself. I'd imagine you could just get a flat piece of textured ABS and attach it somehow from the backside and have it look near factory. Would be nice to find a pocket to fit there as well.
