Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
I ordered new mirrors for my 03 and the passenger one seems like it was assembled incorrectly. The glass sits flush with the frame border. But the drivers side, the glass is recessed, which is correct I believe. I noticed my 2011 Silverado has the same issue. Can some one check they’re mirrors and tell me if this is normal
The driver side ones are a bit different in that they have the auto-darkening capability..... My guess is the glass on one has been replaced. The higher end replacement glass includes the glass frame and heater while the cheapest replacement glass just sticks on top of the broken glass with very thin double sided tape and will sit outside of the glass frame like that. Replacement glass that has the heater AND the auto-darkening ability is $$$$ and very hard to find. The auto-darkening ones typically have a slight bluish tint and as it ages can take on a slightly gold tint or if damaged can get dark spots where the fluid inside the glass leaks out (that fluid is what darkens the glass when current is applied to it and it will also damage the plastic frame and basically soften and melt the plastic some if it gets damaged enough to leak out).
Interesting, I was curious how they auto tint. These are brand new from dealer however. I was looking at hummer pics on internet and seems like they’re all like this. Seems odd. Seems like a manufacturing defect. I emailed dealer, but they’re taking their sweet time responding. There’s an old post below this one that a member mentioned they had the same issue.
