That does not fit a 2003.... 100% sure. On my 2003 the screw has to go in the short end and the long end towards the firewall just hooks on....

 

I understand. Planning on notching screw boss for short end. Didn’t check rear for screw boss, but can glue one on I believe

 

1st mod, drill a hole in the access cover.

 

Physically the L shaped one was just the wrong size. There was no way that drilling a hole would have made it fit, the longer part was not long enough to cover the bottom part of the slot by at least an inch. Since I had one of each type of cover I ended cutting the shorter end off the L shaped one and used that with the longer flat one which did work (I had to use a long screw and a bit of very firm foam to hold it against the slot).
