H2 reprograming problems after bcm change
I installed a new BCM on my 2003 H2 and then had it towed to shop for programing. Tech is saying it takes about a min and a halve of download then locks up. Any help would be appreciated
thanks
thanks
He's got a few options he can try,
there are a few different ways to program the BCM, including offboard as bronxtech has mentioned
Onboard remotely, Onboard Passthru and then offboard with a harness to connect to the BCM while out of the truck
First where did the BCM come from, was it new, remanufactured or from another truck?
A lot of information is stored in the BCM and when selecting the calibration it all has to be correct based on RPO codes
Its best to have the old BCM installed in the truck and pull the information (Calibration) before removing and installing the new one, the scanner will then have the needed information to program the new BCM for the most part.
I've ran into this issue when trying to program using onboard remotely and then was able to get it reprogramed using onboard passthru
Its also critical that the calibration selection is 100% correct based on RPO codes
It can also be that another module on the communication bus causing the issue making offboard programing the only way it will reprogram. This will usually show up when trying to program the module not when downloading the new calibration but that is not always the case.
What programing tool is he using?
Hope this helps,
Neal

Its a after marker BCM from Advanced auto. Dorman. The bcm off the hummer was sent in to be repaired and was told it was not repairable. Then went to GM and ordered. After 6 months and still had no part in sight got on this forum for help. Got the BCM then had towed to shop. The shop I use had computer problems got a new computer then tried to program it whiched failed and so he got another one and it wouldn't program. So I sure it seems to be a setup problem or something of the sourt.
I had the same issue when trying to program a replacement bcm. My part number is 15194423 Hopefully you still have the old one. I never could get the bcm programmed. I ended up fixing the old one. Let us know how you make out. Out of curiosity, what was the issue with the original bcm?
there are listings on eBay for a bcm that is programmed to your vin, I was going to try that next.

you can call GMflash.com and talk with them, they do BCM programming offboard
I spoke with them when I was having trouble programming one for a 03 Denali
There are diagrams for building your own offboard harness on the internet, not that in-depth at all if you want to try that.

I have 3 different J2534 programming tools, all knock offs and the tech2 has been the most dependable for programming using the new ACDelco web site TIS2WEB
I do on occasion use TIS2000 for older trucks
Make sure the person doing the programming is using "replace and reprogram" when trying the programming, I learned this the hard way and took a call to ACDelco to get it straightened out. There are 2 options, "reprogram" and "replace and reprogram"
