Default Ever Wonder What's Inside Your PW Mirror Motor?

Here the gear guts of a 2007 PW mirror Motor. This is the mirror arm assembly that I bought for $100 clams. I got hosed on this one. The Mirror glass was RTV-ed to the bad Motor. I needed just the Mirror but it was just a Mirror with the correct markings at the bottom non heated. Just a Piece of glass.

So one day While smoking a cigar in the garage watching a YT thang, I started messing with the motor and pulled the housing appat.
This is a design nightmare! Look at the gears and the way the motor is feed power. To prongs stick inside the motor and touch the commutator. What a crazy design. The curved parts are the parts that move the mirror. They are driven by this crazy gear system. Then look at the housing that held the mess. Someone

went "CAD" Crazy!

I'd like to know who came up with this design? Seems like a Long way to go to move a hunk of class.

I bet any one of you HUMMER owners could come up with a Much simpler way.

Thanks for posting.
It truly is amazing how they come up with and produce these designs. I wonder who the company is that actually does the production on these units. Aside from the Mirror Meck... there are other areas like the dash vents in the 08 and 09 that have a defect in them. Most all will have the bottom vane broken. This is do to the thin connecting stip between the bottom vane and the one above. If you force it to hard the connecting strip will snap.

I learned the hard way when i installed one of those clip in the vent air fresheners. It just broke the bottom vane when I tried adjusting it one day. I'm sure the older H2's have there plastic parts that break.
