I have a 2003 Hummer H2 6.0l V8 with 170,250 miles on it, I have just started hearing a clicking or tapping sound coming from the engine compartment.

Things I have changed:
1. Water pump
2.altenator
3.pulleys and tensioner's
4.I have taken off the radiator fan to eliminate the fan clutch and still hearing it.


Any other ideas or solutions? Thank you

 

check if you are missing exhaust manifold bolts especially the front and rear ones. an exhaust leek can sometimes come across as a ticking noise. look for black soot near the head and manifolds

If there's no broken exhaust manifold bolts, how's your oil pressure?

 

I looked at the exhaust manifold and found that I have 8 bolt heads out of 12 both sides have to broken bolt heads. I ham changing them as we speak and trying to remove the broken one.I am also changing the spark plugs and wires.
