"Check Oil Level" on dash every time on start up
I like giving updates when something is resolved because it always helps me when others do it. Just came back to say I did the engine flush, and had the oil sensor replaced, and the dash warning of "Check Oil Level" is gone. The old sensor was covered in a bunch of crud. Thanks everyone!!!
Be very careful with engine flushes especially in engines with very high miiles and where oil flaking is evident. I have seen people use this stuff just to have the material that gets loosened up get into the oil pan and block the pickup and then trash the engine from lack of oil pressure. Also, there is a small screen under the oil pressure sending unit that can get plugged up resulting in low oil pressure readings when every thing is just fine.
Nice work hummer_on_fumes, sounds like you knocked it out of the park!
Doc's engine diagram is the Gen 1 small block, totally different, the LQ4 oil sender in some instances has a small screen under it. My 06 did, I used a small lag bolt to remove it when I replaced the sending unit which was stuck showing 100% oil pressure. Re-assembled put in a new sender and left out the screen.
Worked perfectly.
